The Course

The course

A golf course that allows the organisation of championships, set in a picturesque valley, the Vidago Palace Golf Course is sure to be a pleasant experience. Meticulously cared for by golf course maintenance specialists, it consists of 10 par 4 holes, 4 par 5 and 4 par 3, for a total distance of 6.308m.

Front 9 holes par 36 – 3.179m

Back 9 holes par 36 – 3.129m

Hole 1 Par 4, 395m

At a certain time of the courses history, the 1storiginal starting hole, dated 1936, became hole 2. Being now again the starting hole, the tees are close to the old building of the golf pavilion, transformed into the starters’ house, which is certainly a candidate for the most beautiful starter house in the world.

Hole 4 Par 5, 485m

The original holes 7 and 8, par 4 and par 3 respectively, were combined to form this difficult par 5 hole. A stream flows along the right side of the fairway until it crosses it in front of the approach to the green. It is tempting to want to make it in two strokes, but hard enough to ensure a good result - and also the possibility of making a birdie.

Hole 5 Par 4, 420m

Following the valley, the view from this tee is pure Vidago with the forest that opens to a vast panorama of farms and nearby villages. The green is protected by a frontal bunker, which requires an accurate second shot.

Hole 15 Par 5, 530m

Situated near the Fonte Salus, one of the mild mineral water pavilions, the hole 16 has the SI 5 that requires great skill.

Hole 16 Par 4, 365m

Upwards with a dogleg left and with a two-tier and wavy green, it leaves no room for error. Here, two intricate Mackenzie Ross holes were combined to form what it may be considered as the most difficult hole on the course.

Hole 17 Par 5, 525m

You can certainly say, that this, being the signature hole of the golf course, it is the most amazing in the country, overlooking the park, the Palace, and at a distance, the small Vidago chapel, a difficult hole that must be played wisely – or maybe not.

Hole 18 Par 3, 215m

Here, as the best way to end a game played in Vidago, this very long Par 3, has 6 tee positions – stepped and sustained by stone walls – which descend toward the green:  a special pleasure to greet
